8 Church helpers must also have a good character and be sincere [not shifty and double-talkers]; they must not drink too much wine, or be greedy for money [craving wealth, pursuing dishonest gain]; 9 they should hold to the revealed truth of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They should be tested first, and then, if they pass the test, they are to serve. 11 Their wives also must be of good character and must not gossip; they must be sober and honest [trustworthy] in everything. 12 A church helper must have only one wife, and be able to manage his children and family well. 13 Those helpers who do their work well will win for themselves a good standing and are able to speak boldly about their faith in Messiah Y’shua. 1 TIMOTHY 3 tev
Their Different Robes
The parent in the Lord need not be a priest or pastor. He could be wearing the robe of a lay minister, prayer warrior, outreach missionary, worship leader, musician, usher or treasurer. He could be without any office in the church. Whatever, his presence in our midst should be most welcome and a good enough reason for celebration.
28 In the Church, God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. 1 CORINTHIANS 12
20 I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts Me; and whoever accepts Me accepts the One who sent Me. JOHN 13
41 Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward. MATTHEW 10
Hidden No More
Did you know that God has appointed two kinds of parents in the Lord? There is the hidden and the unhidden.
Angels and prophets are among the hidden. By prophets in this instance we mean the Old Testament prophets the likes of Abraham, David, Samuel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea, Habakkuk and Ester. With them are the New Testament prophets the likes of apostles Paul, John, Peter and James. By angels we mean God’s angels, including the archangels.
Some new covenanters are privileged to enjoy the conversation and fellowship of the hidden. To them the hidden are not hidden. Hallelu-yah!
20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water [cup] of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your eyes you will see them. 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” ISAIAH 30
Some churches teach that the Holy Spirit is already attending to us and therefore He has no need to send angels and prophets. In effect, what is being said is that God has no need for coworkers. We know that is not true.
14 Return faithless people, declares the Lord… 15 Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. JEREMIAH 3
The Angels
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? HEBREWS 1
2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. HEBREWS 13
20 See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him, for he will not forgive your rebellion, since My name is in him. 22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and I will oppose those who oppose you. EXODUS 23
2 The message spoken by angels [is] binding, and every violation and disobedience [of it will receive] its just punishment. HEBREWS 2
