The Israelites celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread to commemorate the inability of their ancestors to bring leavened bread with them in their rush to flee Egypt.
33 The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!” 34 So the people took their dough before the yeast was added and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs [bowls] wrapped in clothing… 39 With the dough they had brought from Egypt, they baked [matzah] cakes of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves. EXODUS 12
God gave specifications on how to commemorate the Feast.
3 Do not eat [the Passover lamb] with bread made with yeast, but for seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, the bread of affliction, because you left Egypt in haste—so that all the days of your life you may remember the time of your departure from Egypt. 4 Let no yeast be found in your possession in all your land for seven days. DEUTERONOMY 16
15 For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses. 16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat—that is all you may do. 17 Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. 18 In the first month you are to eat unleavened bread from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day. 19 For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. And whoever eats anything with yeast in it must be cut off from the community of Isra’el, [it is immaterial] whether he is an alien or native-born. 20 Wherever you live, you must eat unleavened bread. EXODUS 12
Its New Covenant Significance
The Feast of Unleavened Bread reminds us all of our life direction on earth.
22 Keep yourselves pure. 1 TIMOTHY 5
19 For seven days no yeast is to be found in your houses. EXODUS 12
27 Nothing impure will ever enter [the kingdom of God]. REVELATION 21
Seven days represent the “seven years” of the Great Tribulation, the era we are in now. <Read the Feast of Trumpets for more details.> Houses represent our tents, our persons, our spirits. Yeast represents the forces of darkness, wickedness and lawlessness.
Purity is component to our restoration. HOW TO ATTAIN IT?
Be holy in order to be pure.
2 Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy. LEVITICUS 19
7 Consecrate yourselves and be holy… 8 Keep My decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy. LEVITICUS 20
1 Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 CORINTHIANS 7
Obey all the instructions of God in order to be holy.
10 Whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. JAMES 2
15 If you love Me, you will obey what I command… 23 If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. JOHN 14
Be Spirit-empowered to be able to obey one hundred percent.
14 I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin… 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good that I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s Law; 23 but I see another law at work in members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members… 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? ROMANS 7
Obeying God’s instructions one hundred percent?
27 Y’shua looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. All things are possible with God.” MARK 10
27 What is impossible with men is possible with God. LUKE 18
The demonic forces will vehemently oppose obedience.
8 As no man is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it. ECCLESIASTES 8
Human power used to lord it over the demonic forces (Genesis 1:28, Psalm 8:5-6) but not anymore. Our first parents acted like Esau who pledged away his birthright in exchange for one meal.[1] They pledged their persons and God-given dominion to Lucifer in exchange of one meal of sin. Since then the humankind has stayed under his spell.
6 Don’t you know the saying It takes only a little hametz [yeast] to leaven a whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old hametz, so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened. 1 CORINTHIANS 5 cjb
How to expel the old hametz (the demonic spirits) in our tents? Make way for the Holy Spirit to indwell our spirits. The Spirit’s sh’khinah, His super bright light, radiates energy equivalent to 20 suns (Occult Grand Master Now in Christ, p. 189). It is a consuming fire to the impure (Deuteronomy 4:24).[2] As the Spirit draws near for indwelling, the demonic spirits will flee—that is, hurriedly in the same manner darkness flees in the presence of light. The demonic spirits will stay away from our tents for as long as the Spirit is in it.
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. JAMES 4
17 Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 CORINTHIANS 3
11 [Come] to the Messiah [and] He [will] set you free from your evil desires, not by a bodily operation of circumcision but by a spiritual operation, the baptism of your souls. COLOSSIANS 2 tlb
16 Live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of your sinful nature. GALATIANS 5
36 If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. JOHN 8
Indwelling will bring Spirit-empowerment.
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone [stubbornness] and give you a heart of flesh [obedience]. EZEKIEL 36
12 But as many as receive Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them which believe on His name. JOHN 1 kjv
7 God [has given] us a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 TIMOTHY 1
17 And [power] will accompany those who believe in My name… MARK 16
Spirit-empowerment will restore our dominion to act for and on behalf of God. It will enable us to access and tap into God’s omnipotence and omniscience (John 14:12, Philippians 4:13) and use it to overcome demonic powers (Luke 10:19), bind demonic spirits (Matthew 16:19), neutralize and undo wicked works (Matthew 10:8, Mark 16:12-13).
We could turn into righteous strongmen and be what we can be. <We say could to stress conditionality because if we don’t believe we are Spirit-empowered or don’t exercise our powers, then it’s as if we don’t have them.> Spirit-empowerment will enable us to obey God one hundred percent, win our battles and come out of the kingdom war triumphant and restored.
Submit to water baptism in order to be indwelt.
Before the baptism, the Spirit of God is with us. John 14:17 says, “He lives with you and will be in you.” At the baptism, the Spirit will be in us.
This is what will happen: God’s grace will forgive all our sins (Colossians 2:13). Its record in the Book of Accounts will be erased (1 Corinthians 13:5). We will be cleansed (2 Peter 1:9); the impure will become pure (Isaiah 1:18). Our heavy load will be lifted off us and we will feel light and bubbly. We can start on life anew, on a clean slate. And because we can contain the Spirit and live, indwelling follows. The two (the Spirit and the human spirit) will become one (1 Corinthians 6:17). [3]
38 Be baptized in the name of Y’shua the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins; then you also shall receive this gift, the Holy Spirit. ACTS 2 tlb
22 [God] appointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts. 2 CORINTHIANS 1
13 We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 1 JOHN 4
24 Those who obey [Y’shua’s] commands live in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us: We know it by the Spirit He gave us. 1 JOHN 3
The dead will have rebirth.
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in the Messiah Y’shua, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the spirit of life in the Messiah Y’shua has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the Law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. ROMANS 8 kjv
With rebirth will come the writing of our names in the Book of Life.
20 Rejoice that your names are written in heaven. LUKE 10
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 JOHN 5
Indwelling will bring anointing, too.
Human eyes do not see it but we will get the same anointing Y’shua had. He had no sin, no need for forgiveness and indwelling. He had no need for water baptism but went through it so we may have a clear picture what to expect of it.
17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” MATTHEW 3
10 As Y’shua was coming out of the water, He saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with You I am well pleased.” MARK 1
God will anoint us as His children and heirs; also, as new covenanters and His coworkers.
20 You have an anointing from the Holy One. 1 JOHN 2
7 You are My son; today I have become your Father. PSALM 2
15 …You received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 … Then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with the Messiah… ROMANS 8
Human ears do not hear it but the angels of God will start referring to us as their “beloved” princes and princesses.
6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. GALATIANS 4
26 You are all sons of God through faith in the Messiah Y’shua, 27 for all of you who were baptized into the Messiah have clothed yourselves with the Messiah. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male or female, for you are all one in the Messiah Y’shua. 29 If you belong to the Messiah, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. GALATIANS 3
Get rid of the old hametz by slugging it out with Lucifer and his demons? That would be an exercise in futility—human power is inferior to satanic power. All we have to do is submit to Y’shua, through water baptism. He has overcome them. They did their best to keep Him in Sheol after the crucifixion; however, three days and three nights after, He disarmed them and stripped them of power.
15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities [of the evil empire], He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. COLOSSIANS 2
[1] Read the story of Esau in Genesis 25:29-34 to better understand this.
[2] The sun burns up its nuclear fuel at the rate of 200,000 nuclear explosions every second. Multiply that by 20 to get an idea just how powerful is God as a consuming fire.
[3] In the Oxyrhynchus Gospels, Y’shua said to the water-baptized, “The kingdom of heaven is within you. Only he who knows himself can find it.” (Wikipedia)
