For Soul Growth

Soul growth is the paramount consideration in choosing the circumstances of our births. For example, the soul that needs to be perfected in patience will be given to circumstances that will develop patience in him and test it.  

How to achieve soul growth?

Glow in holiness.

⁷ Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the Lord your God. ⁸ Keep My decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy. LEVITICUS 20

³⁴ Your eye [your understanding of God’s laws] is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body is full of light. When they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. ³⁵ See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. ³⁶ Therefore, if your body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you… ³³ No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. LUKE 11

¹² Share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. COLOSSIANS 1

⁴³ The righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. MATTHEW 13

Develop personal discipline. There is truth in the Nike advertisement: “Motivation gets us started, but discipline gets us to our destination.” Encarta defines discipline as “mental self-control used in directing or changing behavior, learning something, or training for something.” A word related to mental self-control is “willpower,” which is defined as “a combination of determination and self-discipline that enables somebody to do something despite the difficulties involved.”

¹³ Prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled. ¹⁴ As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 1 PETER 1

Acquire wisdom.

⁵ If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. ⁶ But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. JAMES 1 nlt

¹ All wisdom is from the Lord, and it is His own for ever. ECCLESIASTICUS 1

⁸ There is only One who is wise, and we must stand in awe before His throne… ¹⁰ The Lord gave some measure of wisdom to everyone, but poured her out to those who love Him. SIRACH 1

⁷ Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom. PROVERBS 4
