To edify, give an elevator speech.

Ask yourself what key words and phrases can drive home your point quickly.
4 Prepare what you are going to say. SIRACH 33
10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words. ECCLESIASTES 12
People yawn when a man of many words speaks. But they listen intently when a man of few words speaks.
8 Come to the point and say it all in a few words. SIRACH 32
8 No one can stand a person who talks too long and will not give others a chance to speak. SIRACH 20
17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a [foolish] ruler. ECCLESIASTES 9

19 In the church I [Paul] would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1 CORINTHIANS 14
To edify, be completely humble and gentle (Ephesians 4:2).
Which is edifying to hear: An angry parent shouting to his child, “Why did you break that plate, punyeta?” or a gentle, soft voice, saying, “What happened, son?”
Y’shua was humble and gentle (Matthew 11:29). He exercised the greatest tact and thoughtful, kind attention in His intercourse with the people. He was never rude, never needlessly spoke a severe word, never gave needless pain to a sensitive soul. He did not censure human weakness. He spoke the truth, but always with love. He denounced hypocrisy, unbelief, and iniquity; but tears were in His voice as He uttered His scathing rebukes. He wept over Jerusalem, the city He loved, which refused to receive Him, the Saviour, but He regarded them with pitying tenderness. His life was one of self-denial and thoughtful care for others… (Steps for Christ, p. 11)
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. PHILIPPIANS 4
1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. GALATIANS 6
15 A gentle tongue can break a bone. PROVERBS 25
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. PROVERBS 15
17 Yes, kind words are more effective than the best of gifts, and if you are really concerned, you will give both. SIRACH 18
8 Listen to what the poor have to say, and answer them politely. SIRACH 4
5 If you are polite and courteous, you will enjoy the friendship of many people. SIRACH 6
17 Son, be humble in everything you do, and people will appreciate it more than gifts. 18 The greater you become, the more humble you should be. SIRACH 3
3 Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by Him deeds are weighed. 1 SAMUEL 2
